Coming out of college I knew I wanted to do freelance work, but wanted the illusion of something bigger than one person behind a desk. Five Mile Design was born from that. The name pays tribute to the road I grew up on, and still lived on at the time, but also had a nice ring to it. It felt like the perfect name for what I needed in that moment. Now instead of a new grad back his parents’ house, I was Five Mile Design.

The logo pays homage to Five Mile Rd. by alluding to street signs at a crossroad. The negative space in the middle can also be read as a top down, map view of a road.
